Industry 4.0

GM is in the industry-forefront with the Industry 4.0 adoption.

GM is in the industry-forefront with the Industry 4.0 adoption.
In GM we are preparing to heavily focus on interconnectivity, automation, machine learning, and real-time data. All GM Industry 4.0 certified machines are built to be cloud connected for easy remote diagnostics and connection to various production systems (MIS).

GM’s cloud link uses the latest VPN technology with hard encryption for compliance with strict IT security infrastructure. This connectivity, which is one of the Industry 4.0 characteristics, provides fast online assistance, preventive maintenance, and fault logging.

GM converters and the management system is supported by JDF and JMF
Moreover, the bi-directional communication between GM converters and the management system is supported by JDF (Job Description Format) and JMF (Job Messaging Format). By simplifying data exchange, JDF makes digital production faster and more efficient, while also facilitating faster movement of job details. A JDF electronic ticket specifies how a job is to be handled and produced from customer concept to final production.

JDF ensures automation of the production by providing data in XML format for:

  1. setting automatic knives
  2. laser die-cutting
  3. data printing with Domino, Markem-Imaje or other printing heads
  4. start and stop converting the job

Data for process automation can be also acquired by integrating GM systems with third-party solutions such as Esko, Xeikon, HP and others.

CERM system increases efficiency
In addition, GM converters are ready for integration with all digital label presses for full inline production. The possibility of integration with the CERM system increases efficiency and automates the workflow at all levels of production.

GM SmartView ensures integration
GM SmartView is our own automated system which provides real-time data of all GM converting lines owned by our customers. GM SmartView ensures integration with MIS and compliance with JDF standard. It can be used to get a quick overview of running machines, to show the job ID, operator name, the current machine status (run, idle, error), current web speed and distance run, and is an excellent solution for analysis GM converters performance, operators’ performance, and reporting failures.

Still, with today's standards, each automation solution is unique.
